Aerolite ceiling insulation for your home
Buy Aerolite insulation from INSUL8SA in 50mm, 100mm and 135mm thicknesses. Aerolite Soft Touch is a flexible glasswool blanket installed above the ceiling to reduce heat transfer between the roof space and the rooms below.
It helps slow heat entering through the ceiling in summer and heat escaping in winter. If you use heating or air conditioning, this can reduce the energy needed to maintain a comfortable temperature. The result depends on your home, the installation and how you heat or cool it.
Choosing the right roll involves two separate decisions: the thermal performance your ceiling needs and the quantity required to cover it. Use the comparison below to check both before ordering.
Compare Aerolite thicknesses and roll coverage
| Thickness | Roll dimensions | Coverage per roll | Product R-value m²·K/W |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50mm | 10m × 1.2m | 12m² | 1.14 |
| 100mm | 6m × 1.2m | 7.2m² | 2.50 |
| 135mm | 5m × 1.2m | 6m² | 3.38 |
Specifications: Isover Aerolite Soft Touch. Coverage is calculated from the stated roll dimensions.
A higher R-value means greater resistance to heat flow. These figures describe the insulation material itself; the performance of a complete roof and ceiling also depends on the other materials and the way they are installed.
Which Aerolite thickness should you choose?
135mm Aerolite insulation
The 135mm roll provides the highest thermal resistance of the three options sold here. Each roll covers 6m². Consider this option when your project calls for an insulation R-value of 3.38; check the specification for your location and roof construction before ordering.
100mm Aerolite insulation
The 100mm roll covers 7.2m² and has an insulation R-value of 2.50. Choose it when that performance matches your project specification. It should not be treated as a direct substitute for 135mm where the higher R-value is required.
50mm Aerolite insulation
The 50mm roll covers 12m² and has an insulation R-value of 1.14. Isover identifies this thickness as an option for topping up existing insulation. Have the existing insulation assessed before deciding whether an additional 50mm will achieve the performance you need.
Aerolite insulation prices and cost per square metre
Select a thickness in the product options to view its current price per roll. When comparing Aerolite prices, check the coverage as well as the roll price: the three thicknesses contain different numbers of square metres.
Price per m² = price per roll ÷ coverage per roll.
Compare products at the thickness and performance your project requires. Then include delivery and, if needed, installation when comparing the total project cost. Request a quote with your chosen thickness, quantity and delivery address so these costs can be confirmed.
How many Aerolite rolls do you need?
Measure the ceiling area you intend to insulate. Divide that area by the coverage of your chosen roll, then round up to a whole roll.
For example, a 100m² ceiling using 135mm Aerolite needs 100 ÷ 6 = 16.67 rolls, rounded up to 17 rolls. Those rolls provide 102m² of nominal coverage before any allowance for cutting, layout or site conditions.
If your rooms have different ceiling levels or you are insulating only part of the building, send us the measurements for those areas. We can help you check the roll quantity before you order.
Installation and handling
Aerolite is supplied in compressed rolls. Isover advises that the material recovers to its full thickness within 24–48 hours after opening. Store it dry and follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions.
The blanket should fit the ceiling layout without gaps or unnecessary compression. Light fittings, wiring and access points need particular care: follow the applicable fitting clearances and do not walk on ceiling boards. Ask an installer to assess difficult access or existing insulation before work begins.

Aerolite questions before you order
Is Aerolite the same as Think Pink?
Aerolite Soft Touch is the current Isover product name associated with the former Aerolite Think Pink brand. Check the thickness and specifications when comparing older quotations or product information.
Does Aerolite help reduce noise?
Glasswool absorbs sound and can contribute to the acoustic performance of a ceiling. It does not make a room soundproof by itself. Noise reduction depends on the complete construction, including gaps, ceiling boards, walls and windows.
Is Aerolite non combustible?
Isover lists Aerolite Soft Touch as A1 under SANS 53501-1. This describes the product’s reaction to fire; it is not a fire resistance rating for the complete ceiling assembly.
Can I use Aerolite in an existing home?
Yes. Isover lists retrofit ceiling insulation and topping up existing insulation among its applications. Check roof access, the condition of existing material and the required final performance before choosing a thickness.
Can I get help with quantities and delivery?
Yes. Send INSUL8SA your ceiling area, preferred thickness and delivery suburb or postcode. If you already have a specification or room measurements, include them with your enquiry.
